HashiCorp, the company behind Terraform, Consul, and Vault, has a community recognition award they call “HashiCorp Ambassador.” This award is given to individuals who have committed to the spirit of open source and actively share their knowledge in HashiCorp products to the IT community through content creation and local events that advocate for and adhere to HashiCorp principles; in addition to providing productive, thoughtful feedback to HashiCorp on their products too.
Since 2019, HashiCorp has been awarding recipients of the HashiCorp Ambassador award. It’s a community recognition program that is actually similar to what Microsoft has been doing with the Microsoft MVP program.
To win the HashiCorp Ambassador award you must first produce content and/or speak at events in a way that advocates for the HashiCorp products. And, the individuals considered for the award are going to be those who stand out of the crowd in providing value to the community as they advocate for HashiCorp products. Also, the award is given out annually, so each year you will need to show how you’ve contributed to the community in the previous year. When you receive the award, you will be a HashiCorp Ambassador for only 1 year; unless you get re-awarded again the next year.
Before you are considered for the award, though, you must be nominated. You can be nominated by someone else or even nominate yourself too. The nomination process is opens at the beginning of the year (in January I believe), and there is a limited amount of time for submissions to be received. Then HashiCorp will evaluate all the submissions and choose the current years awardees.
You can find information about nominating someone for the HashiCorp Ambassador award here:
Build5Nine’s very own Chris Pietschmann has had the honor of being awarded HashiCorp Ambassador multiple times. He has been awarded mostly for his work in producing content advocating for and helping others using HashiCorp’s Terraform and HashiCorp Cloud Platform products for Infrastructure as Code (IaC). Much of Chris’ content that has earned him HashiCorp Ambassador is the blog content published here on Build5Nines.com around HashiCorp Terraform and related technologies, as well as open source on GitHub and other forums/mediums too.
The following is some of the content Chris Pietschmann has published here on Build5Nines:
If you know someone who you think has what it takes, or you think you do yourself, then fill out a nomination submission when submissions are accepted again. Good luck on your award. Thanks for your own community contributions, and good luck!
